• YouTube Logo Goes Gangnam Style

As the PSY - GANGNAM STYLE (강남스타일) M/V video edges toward one billion views (currently at 971,518,818 at time of this post) YouTube has decided to change their logo. They have made a little animation of the pop singer PSY doing his famous move.  We think its spot on and a well observed execution.

PSY's Real Name and That Dance Move
PSY’s real name is Park Jae Sung and the popularity of the video can be credited to this dance move called “the horse-riding dance,” but speculations arose in the Korean internet communities that the dance may have been pioneered a before by a Korean pop group Girls’ Day in their 2011 debut single Tilting Head. PSY himself then said that he came up with this.

    Some Gangnam Style Facts:
    1. PSY is short for Psycho
    2. PSY was arrested for possession of marijuana
    3. PSY recently signed with Scooter Braun’s record label.  The label that made Justin Beiber the person he is today.

    What is Gangnam Style?
Gangnam Style is a satire about South Koreans’ materialist obsession with Seoul’s Gangnam district, a symbol of opulence and socio-economic status. PSY has expressed conflicting views regarding this interpretation in multiple interviews.

The video from the Girls’ Day pop band (see if you can spot the dance) is below and the YouTube logo source file. This is an image of all of the cells that make up the animation. The URL for that image source is here: http://s.ytimg.com/yts/img/doodles/youtube_yoodle_psy_110x30-vflOeb25k.png
